About US Time Zones

The United States spans six time zones, from Eastern Time on the East Coast to Hawaii-Aleutian Time in the Pacific. The four continental time zones — Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific — cover the contiguous 48 states. Alaska and Hawaii each have their own time zones.

Most US states observe daylight saving time (DST), shifting clocks forward one hour in March and back in November. Arizona (except the Navajo Nation) and Hawaii do not observe DST. Several states span two time zones, including Indiana, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Texas, and others along zone boundaries.
