About matcha tea

Matcha is whisked, not steeped — water at 80°C poured over powdered green tea, whisked vigorously for 30-60 seconds. The full leaf is consumed, delivering more caffeine and L-theanine than any other tea.

Benefits

  • ·Highest L-theanine content (calm-focused energy)
  • ·Caffeine 65-75mg per serving (most of any tea)
  • ·Antioxidants 10× green tea
  • ·Sustained alertness without coffee jitters
  • ·Versatile: drink as tea or use in cooking/baking

How it works

Heat water to 80°C (175°F). Sift 1-2 tsp matcha into bowl. Add 60-80ml hot water. Whisk in M-shape with bamboo whisk (chasen) until frothy — 30-60 seconds. Drink immediately. No straining needed (drink the powder).

Matcha (粉茶) is shade-grown for 3-4 weeks before harvest, increasing chlorophyll and L-theanine. Used in Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu) for 800+ years. Premium grades: ceremonial (whisked), then culinary (baking, lattes).

Who uses matcha tea

Energy-focused workers wanting alternative to coffee, Japanese culture enthusiasts, athletes (pre-workout caffeine), bakers and cooks.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I steep matcha tea?

For western-style brewing, steep matcha tea for 2 minutes at 175°F / 80°C. If your tea tastes bitter, reduce the time by 30 seconds. For a stronger brew, add more leaves rather than steeping longer.

What water temperature should I use for matcha tea?

Use water at 175°F / 80°C for matcha tea. Using water that's too hot can make the tea bitter and destroy delicate flavors. If you don't have a thermometer, let boiling water cool for 2-3 minutes to reach approximately 175°F.

Can I re-steep matcha tea leaves?

Matcha tea can sometimes be re-steeped once or twice, but the flavor will be lighter. Increase the steep time by 30-60 seconds for the second infusion.
